Senior Revenue/Project Accountant

The Senior Revenue/Project Accountant will be responsible for general accounting with the emphasis on the revenue/project accounting and financial reporting functions for both internal and external reporting needs and will actively participate in key initiatives such as a new ERP implementation and development of a robust project accounting function. We are looking for an individual who enjoys a wide range of responsibilities and seeks continuous improvements to add value to the business and to create efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Individual Outcomes:

  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
  • Prepare and book monthly accrual, amortization and adjustment entries
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Generate deferred contracts, manage deferred revenue accounting and review contracts
  • Prepare the entity financial statements as well as the consolidated financials and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
  • Drive and manage setting up of a robust project accounting function and process for an accurate revenue recognition and for measurement of project profitability
  • Backfill Accountant in AP, AR and Payroll
  • Analyse financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
  • Manage the financial and tax audits in terms of preparing schedules and dealing with staff auditors
  • Assist with FP&A activities including annual budgets, forecasts, metrics, and analyses
  • Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Actively participate in the implementation of a new ERP system
  • Complete other projects as assigned

Departmental Outcomes:

  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to the management
  • Improve the monthly financial close process to be able to close the books and to generate accurate financial information in three days
  • Complete an upcoming annual audit with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work on process changes to have tighter internal controls in place
  • Improve the documentation of various procedures and cross-training
  • Provide friendly customer service to internal customers
  • Create a team environment that everyone takes a pride in what they do, takes a full accountability and celebrates successes
  • Achieve best practices and world-class standards by focusing on continuous improvement and value-added activities

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 5 years accounting experience in multi-entities & multi-currencies environment
  • Experience in revenue recognition
  • Experience in project accounting
  • Experience in Accounting Software - both small applications such as QuickBooks as well as ERP systems such as Great Plains, NetSuite or Intacct
  • Experience in using MS-Office applications, especially MS-Excel (Intermediate to Advanced)
  • Experience in Software industry preferred (ideally in SaaS environment)
  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance. An accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) preferred
